The Martyrs Inn, a Dorset Pub

The Martyrs Inn, is nestled in the centre of the historic village of Tolpuddle, near Dorchester, in the heart of Dorset. Built in 1921 to replace an older pub, The Crown as it was then known, was renamed the The Martyrs Inn in 1952 and has been providing a great place to eat and drink ever since.

The Martyrs Inn is open every day from 11am to 11pm and serves food daily from 12 noon to 9pm. We offer a great range of local draught ales, continental lagers, worldly wines and excellent food.

Our Beer

We serve excellent Hall and Woodhouse beer brewed at the Badger Brewer in Blandford Forum, in the North of Dorset just 10 miles away. In the summer we usually have 3 real ales to choose from, including First Call, Tanglefoot and excellent season special, and in the winter a choice of 2 delightful winter warmers.

Our Food

We serve a range of Pub Classics, including our Martyrs Inn Steak Hot Pot. We make delicious burgers from our locally sourced Dorset Aberdeen Angus beef, and a range of Bistro style dishes on both the menu and specials board. We source as much food as possible from Dorset, and use suppliers in and around Dorchester the county town.

Our Service

We offer great friendly service to our local and visiting customers a like, we work hard to provide a prompt, courteous service. Children, families, dogs, muddy welly boots are all welcome.

Friday is literally Fry-Day at The Martyrs Inn, we are serving our great value Fish and Chips. Fresh Cod or Haddock,  (depending on the season) in home-made beer batter and our rustic chipped potatoes, peas or mushy peas served all day long.

Great Value 3 Course Curry Night

Every Monday evening we served a delicious 3 Course Indian Curry at The Martyrs Inn, A set starter, followed by a Curry Buffet with at least 4 different curries, and a Indian inspired dessert.

Our curries are all scratch made in our kitchen, from traditional spices, not a jar of pre-made sauce in sight. At £11.99 per person including a half (first call real ale, stowford press or fosters lager), or a 125ml glass of house wine or soft drink (cola, lemonade, lime & soda, elderflower spritzer),  there is no better way to spend a Monday evening

Sunday Carvery

Our great value Sunday Carvery is open every Sunday from 12noon until 8pm, we serve a selection of local roast meats, fresh seasonal vegetables, roast potatoes and all trimmings.
